Fantastic Beasts: Queenie’s betrayal? Is it really surprising?
By Callum Gunn
Queenie’s betrayal in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald has long been theorized. If true, should we really be surprised considering all that’s happened to her?
Two weeks from today and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald will have finally arrived in theatres. All will be revealed and we will finally know if our theories have been true or not. However if one theory does turn out to be true, should we really be surprised?
Queenie’s betrayal, by joining Grindelwald’s army has been theorized for some time now. Ever since her character description was revealed it, the theory began. And as we have gotten closer and closer to the release date, more evidence has emerged to suggest that she will indeed turn her back on her friends and join the Dark Wizard Grindelwald and his army.

Thing is, I really don’t think we should be surprised at this. Or at the very least, we can’t really blame her for doing such a thing.
If everything plays out the way it’s been theorized, Queenie will join Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald because he can offer the life she wants with Jacob. A life that is forbidden under the current magical government.
Her life has currently been flipped upside down. Forced to leave her home, and live in hiding. It’s hardly a great life to have, especially when all you have done is fallen in love with someone.
So put yourself in Queenie’s shoes for a moment. If you were given the choice. Keep living the terrible life you live. Constantly in hiding and in fear of being arrested, if you were giving a way out, would you take it?

You would hardly have any loyalties to your current government to make you consider not to betray everyone. It doesn’t look like Queenie has many family ties left either, so again, not much loyalties left.
I can’t really think of any reason why she would refuse to join Grindelwald. And I think if it was any of you in Queenie’s shoes, you would do the same really.
What do you think? Would you honestly be surprised if Queenie betrayed everyone in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald considering the hardship she has endured? Drop a comment below sharing your thoughts.
