Stranger Things are headed for Hawkins in season 3, new companion book reveals

Season 3 information, pretty please

I won’t judge if you simply scrolled through to get to this part of the story. What the heck will happen in Hawkins in season 3 of Stranger Things?

Season 3 will occur during the summer of 1985, and according to Levy, plenty of change is coming.

"It’s about changes in the kids’ relationships with each other. It’s about romantic relationships that change friendships. It’s about adult relationships that maybe change in tone. It’s about Hawkins, as a town, changing with the arrival of a new mall and what that means for the small town in the mid-1980s."

Some of those relationships include Mike and Eleven and Lucas and Max, who are both officially going steady. As for Steve, yes he is alive, as we’ve already seen teasers of him working at Scoops Ahoy ice cream shop in Hawkins’ new Starcourt Mall. He’s spotted alongside the new character played by Maya Thurman-Hawke. Whether anything will happen between these two remains a mystery, but we do know her name is Robin, and she’s fairly bored with life until she learns about the dark secrets of Hawkins.

There are several other new faces headed for season 3 who may or may not have nefarious intentions. Jake Busey plays a reporter for The Hawkins Post named Bruce who not be so trustworthy.  Cary Elwes, of The Princess Bride fame, will serve as Hawkins’ Mayor Kline. This mayor may have something to do with the new mall coming to town, and whether or not that’s a bad thing, we’ll have to wait and see.

Now, while it’s super cute that romance is in the air and a new mall is around (with a legit 1985 Gap replica, mind you) what dark and terrible things are coming for Hawkins? Unfortunately, the Mind Flayer is still around and looms nearby, still inside the Upside Down.

Levy explains that Eleven may face a terrible threat, now that this monster knows what it is up against.

"We ended season two with a clear signal that the Shadow Monster was not eliminated, and maybe he’s even identified his foe. And that darkness, and the battle that it will require, grows in season 3."
