The Winchesters will be changing back into their suits this week as comic book figures start to come to life and attack people.
As per the format of a show like this, it seems Sam and Dean will be taking a small “break” from their overarching quest to find the angel Michael and prevent him from taking over the world to hunt in a monster-of-the-week-style episode. The preview for the episode which airs Thursday night titled “Mint Condition” shows the boys dressed up in suits once again, most likely posing as FBI.
Along with the hunt for Michael, it seems as though Sam’s small beard has also gone. RIP. This easily indicates that Sam and Dean have had time to adjust to Michael kidnapping Dean’s body for three weeks, with Sam finally deciding to shave. The boys must feel safe and secure. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be out hunting something else.
As the brothers investigate a comic book store, it feels comfortable watching them do what they do best. If you enjoy the more light-hearted, old-fashioned “filler” episodes more than the pivotal episodes that cover the arc of the season, then you’ll like this episode for sure.
Despite the villain of the episode being a one-off, something Sam and Dean can easily kill compared to the bigger enemies that they’re used to, the monster in the preview looks fairly creepy: hideous and, quite literally, something out of a comic book. Sam reveals in the preview that they’re up against a ghost, potentially possessing a life-sized figure… Is Sam right?
It looks like there will be loads of action, too, as Dean must dodge a flying chainsaw. The preview also shows the monster utilizing an axe as a weapon. Whatever the boys are up against appears to be brutal and bloody, something the earlier seasons were praised for. Although, in the face of an axe-wielding murderer, Dean might be more excited than scared; we all know that Dean is a giant kid at heart.
