Will Alucard bring peace, more violence, or simply become a recluse?

It’s safe to say that Alucard is absolutely devastated at the end of season 2. His mother was killed by humans long ago, and he’s just killed his father, Dracula, to stop the slaughter of all mankind.

The last scene of Alucard is incredibly heartbreaking — the dhampir sits alone in his father’s chair, with a portrait of his mother nearby, weeping softly. Trevor and Sypha have ridden off into the sunset, making his loneliness even worse as the two people he likely has the closest bonds with are now gone. In a strange way, we see the same despair that must have plagued Alucard’s father, before his mother arrived and brightened his world.

Alucard’s future is very uncertain, as the character has always been a bit of a mystery even to his friends. Now that he has ownership of both Dracula’s castle and the Belmont estate, Alucard could study both worlds — human and vampire — to make a host of new discoveries for the good of all. From scientific marvels to mystical magic, there is so much opportunity awaiting him if he accepts that fate.

However, Alucard is also deeply troubled by the events that have just occurred. If his loneliness takes too strong a hold of him, he may slowly let the darkness in — a darkness that overtook his father. What if the grief of both his parents results in him lashing out at everyone, vampires and humans alike. If Dracula was a fearsome force to deal with, what would his son be like as an enemy?

But perhaps Alucard does neither. He may very well become a lonely, sad shell of himself and live within the confines of the castle for the rest of his life. That is, until someone comes knocking — whether that be Camilla and her growing forces, Trevor and Sypha returning for help with an adventure, or perhaps a woman similar to his own mother, seeking guidance from the wealth of knowledge the castle overs — we’ll have to wait and see.
