Agatha goes full zombie

Episode: “Chapter Nine: The Returned Man”

However, not all goes exactly according to play when Agatha comes back to life. Not only can she not stop throwing up dirt, she’s wearing white as she does it and goes quite pale. If Batibat seems like a Buffy reference, Agatha, when she’s near death, seems like she’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina‘s nod to The Walking Dead.

The worst of it, though, is when she shuffles into the chapel where the Satanic Choir is practicing for Father Blackwood to hear. It’s at this point that she looks fully undead. Granted, she’s back in shape after Tommy Kinkle goes back to the underworld, but just her haunting presence throughout this episode qualifies her for this list.

Sabrina’s own witch-burning party

Episode: “Chapter Ten: The Witching Hour”

How does one destroy the spirits of 13 angry witches who are hellbent (pun intended) on paying back Greendale and their coven for killing them hundreds of years ago? Well, if you’re Sabrina, it’s simple. You finally sign your name away in the Book of the Beast, then channel hellfire itself to burn the tree on which the aforementioned witches were hanged.

But as the show does throughout its first season, there’s really not much in the way of censoring or otherwise cutting away from the spirits of the witches burning up. Moreover, the episode seems to show that they do have some sort of physical form when they’re summoned back by Madam Satan, and so Sabrina’s quite literally burning the witches.

(Of course, the reveal of Madam Satan’s true face towards the end of the episode definitely is the runner-up here.)

Here’s hoping that season 2 gives us as much Salem — in both of his forms — as we can handle, as well as even more scares.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is now streaming on Netflix.
