Karl Urban says he would love to be in a Deadpool movie

Karl Urban may have already been a part of the Marvel movie universe thanks to his role as Skurge in Thor: Ragnarok, but he really wants to be in a Deadpool movie.

At Fan Days Dallas 2018, Karl Urban made an appearance to chat with fans and sign autographs. And according to ComicBook.com, while speaking to the fans, the actor shared that if there was ever an offer on the table to take part in a Deadpool movie, he would jump on it.

Urban told the crowd, “I’d love to be in a Deadpool movie.” And while the actor has already been a part of a superhero movie thanks to his turn in the recent Thor: Ragnarok, being a part of a Deadpool movie is not out of the realm of possibilities.

As fans of the actor are aware, besides his MCU past, he starred in the R-rated 2012 Dredd, which is also a comic book adaptation. And the actor reminded everyone about his turn in the movie, pointing out that he thinks Deadpool reminded him of that film because of, “the opening sequence, that reminded me a lot of, and I think they drew some inspiration from, Dredd, at least cinematographically the way Dredd was shot.”

And just like Josh Brolin had a major role in both Deadpool 2 and Avengers: Infinity War, it is entirely possible that Karl Urban could do the same thing. Considering how many other mercenaries, bad guys, and all-around interesting characters make up the Deadpool universe, Urban could certainly find a role that he could take on. Plus, since he has already proven his ability to take on an R-rated comic book role, as well as play a semi-bad guy with a sense of honor (aka Skurge), he would be a great fit in a Deadpool role.

As of now, we don’t know if there will be another Deadpool movie. But there has been talk of a spin-off series featuring the X-Force, the team that the anti-hero brought together. But if there is a chance we could see a third movie, perhaps Urban could be a part of the series in some way. And at the very least, we think he could find a way to be a part of the X-Force if they are looking for another mercenary or even a bad guy to come up against (not that we think he is a bad guy).

Honestly, we love the idea of Karl Urban being a part of a Deadpool movie. He has proven that he can be humorous, sarcastic, and also heroic, thanks to roles in movies like Star Trek, Thor: Ragnarok, Dredd, and even the second and third movies in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. As an actor, Urban has proven his versatility, and we think a role in a Deadpool movie or even a spin-off of the series would showcase just how versatile he is.
