Kevin Feige answers question about Deadpool’s MCU fate after the Thanos snap
Deadpool may not be part of the MCU at this time, but with the Fox and Disney merger taking place, he soon might be. And that means we want to know if he survived the Thanos snap.
While speaking to Variety on the red carpet at the Britannia Awards, Kevin Feige was asked about the fate of Deadpool after the events of Infinity War. And while the Merc with the Mouth might not be a part of the MCU right now, with the upcoming merger of Fox and Disney he soon could be. Unfortunately, that doesn’t mean he survived the snap heard round the universe, which is why we turned to Feige for an answer.
However, in what we can only call the best non-answer meets answer ever, the Marvel studio boss said, “Technically speaking, he was not in the MCU, he was not in that cinematic universe, so he was not affected, probably.” And while the first part of his answer makes us think that Deadpool survived the snap, it is the probably at the end of that sentence that makes it clear that Feige isn’t going to give us a straightforward answer. This is especially true since he pointed out the merger isn’t complete yet.
Feige continued his answer by saying, “What I will say is, for years and years the dream has been to have access to as many of our characters back so that we can tell those stories at Marvel Studios.” Just like the rest of us are excited to see all of the Marvel characters reunited under one cinematic roof, it seems that Feige is as well. After saying he was looking forward to seeing the Marvel characters all reunited, he added, “We have ideas just from going back 18 years, but nothing specific.”
Does this mean Deadpool survived Thanos’ devastation in Infinity War? Honestly, we don’t really know for sure. But based on the idea that he was not actually part of the MCU at the time of the snap, perhaps he was saved from turning into dust. And considering how popular the character is, and how hard he seems to be to kill, we doubt a simple snap would be enough to take Deadpool out of the running.
Deadpool may not be an Avenger, but seeing him enter the MCU in any way might be worth not knowing for sure if he really did survive the Thanos snap. But based on Feige’s excitement, we have a feeling he really did make it past the Infinity War.
