Star Wars Resistance preview: Power outages at the Colossus
Just in time for Halloween, the First Order is back and it looks like this week’s episode of Star Wars Resistance will be set mostly in the dark.
Temporary power outages can be sort of fun, depending on the situation and who you’re stuck with. Given Halloween is just around the corner, it’d be great to see the Star Wars Resistance characters telling each other ghost stories around a heat lamp. Sadly, that’s not where this episode is going.
Instead, the First Order is back in the picture. Last time we saw them, Captain Phasma and Major Vonreg were consulting with the pirates in “The Triple Dark.” We even have a theory that Phasma and the First Order are after fuel for their fleet. They don’t want to take it by force, so they’re relying on the pirates to do their dirty work.
Now, the Colossus is having a problem keeping itself operational and the lack of power is negatively affecting its residents. The outages are becoming an inconvenience, especially in an area that requires constant energy to operate heavy machinery, repair ships, and maintain a consistent schedule to earn wages.
Coupled with a visit by the First Order, things are looking pretty suspicious for Kaz and he’ll no doubt turn on his spy mode to find answers. Is the First Order taking away much-needed resources from the Colossus? Is that why the station is suffering from a lack of power?
Catch a glimpse of the power outage in this recently released preview:
Tam, Kaz, and Neeku find themselves in Aunt Z’s tavern late one evening. The power goes out yet again and one of the workers nearby says, “Without any power, I can’t get anything done.” If this is a recurring problem, people could start leaving the Colossus in favor of other reliable work somewhere else. Even worse, people could stop coming to the Colossus entirely.
Aunt Z believes the problem is not an accident. Instead, she thinks Captain Doza is behind it. Not only that, but she thinks he’s colluding with the First Order. Those are some bold thoughts on Aunt Z’s part and it just shows how there’s a major disconnect between Doza Tower and the rest of the Colossus. Needless to say, the residents are aggravated. If Doza isn’t careful, he could have a riot on his hands.
That said, we get the impression Captain Doza isn’t collaborating with the First Order. At least, not yet. As seen in the extended sneak peek trailer, Doza explains to Yeager in a future episode that the pirates are more prepared and have better equipment. If the pirates are still attacking, then the First Order is still using them to force Doza’s hand into making an alliance with them.
Disney XD also tweeted this sneak peek last week about where Captain Doza’s loyalties lie in the series. It’s clear Major Vonreg is trying to persuade Doza into making some sort of deal with him, but Doza isn’t falling for it. If more pressure is added onto him, however, Doza might give in one day, especially if it ensures his daughter’s safety in the process.
