John Barrowman shares his teeny, tiny disappointment about Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor Who premiere

Jack Harkness himself doesn’t have a problem with Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor but John Barrowman does have one problem with the season 11 premiere.

Like many of us, John Barrowman was taken over by Jodie Whittaker’s portrayal of the Thirteenth Doctor. Jack Harkness himself is a character that many Doctor Who fans miss on the series. After his adventures with David Tennant’s Doctor, he hasn’t been back on actual Doctor Who, existing solely on Torchwood.

That being said, Barrowman still is a fan of the series and often is the talk of fans in hopes that he will return to the show. The former Torchwood star loved the premiere episode, telling Radio Times all about how much he loved her as the Doctor.

“It was the worldwide simulcast, and it started, and I was hooked,” Barrowman said. “I thought the story was great. I loved the monster with the teeth – that’s how he collects all the people that he kills or destroys.”

That being said, there was one aspect of the premiere that rubbed John the wrong way.

“But then at the end of it, I thought – where’s the theme music?”

Like many fans, they noticed that the premiere episode lacked that wonderful opening we’ve all come to know. Here’s the thing though: It doesn’t ever really happen in the premiere episode for the new Doctor.

Most of the time, the second episode of the season will feature the new opening credits and the theme that is slightly altered to fit with the new Doctor and their storyline. Jodie’s, which was worth the wait, premiered in the second episode of the season.

Don’t worry though, even though the theme wasn’t in the first episode and Barrowman wasn’t exactly happy about it, he still is planning on dancing around to it when he does get around to watching the second episode.

“I’ll probably end up doing the dance in a hotel room somewhere,” he said.

Due to his filming schedule and his travel, Barrowman hasn’t had the chance to watch the second episode yet but he told Radio Times that he’s going to download it and enjoy the theme whenever he gets the chance.
