Harry Potter named the 3rd favorite book for the Great American Read

Sure we all know and love the Harry Potter series but it is nice to know that, according to PBS’s The Great American Read, the series is still at the top!

Harry Potter is beloved by millions but to know that it is still in the top five for America’s favorite books is something else. According to PBS’s The Great American Read, Harry Potter is ranked 3rd, following Outander and To Kill a Mockingbird for America’s favorite novel.

It is so wonderful to see this series we have all loved since we were children still there at the top of everyone’s lists. Among titles such as The Great Gatsby, The Hunger Games, 1984, Anne of Green Gables, and more, it is very impressive that Harry and his friends ended up as number 3.

So many of the novels included were books that are still taught in high schools and so for Harry Potter to beat them shows the stamina of the series and how much we love the series still. Starting in 1997, we began this journey with Harry James Potter and watched as he grew and, eventually, defeated Lord Voldemort.

We grew up with him and we fell in love with this boy who was burden with this great task and it has, in the end, resulted in our continual love of Harry, Hermione, and Ron years after the series has finished.

Will the book continue to be at the top of lists? Who knows, we’ll have to see ten years down the line but, if anything else, the series might just continue to have new movies and books to help expand the universe.

May we never tire of Harry and his friends and we’re so proud of the Harry Potter series for being number 3!
