Karen Page and Wilson Fisk’s Heart-to-Heart
One of the greatest gifts a TV series can give is the meeting of two influential characters who don’t normally interact. So much of Daredevil is compartmentalized — Matt Murdock fights crime by himself, his relationships with his friends are kept separate from his vigilante career, and his vigilante career is kept separate from his work as a lawyer — that seeing two players like Karen Page and Wilson Fisk have a charged confrontation over secrets on both ends is just too juicy not to enjoy.
Towards the end of the season, Karen decides to pay Fisk a visit, hoping to trap him into a taped confession of his father’s murder, effectively ending his deal with the FBI and sending him back to prison. Karen rattles Fisk, bringing up his mother, how he killed his father, and then hammering home the final nail by admitting to killing his friend and henchman, Wesley.
If you thought Karen couldn’t get her hands dirty, this episode will teach you otherwise. And while watching Fisk cower in front of the reporter is admittedly satisfying, Fisk gets his own jabs in too, proving the pair is evenly matched.
He breaks first, though, standing up and getting the FBI involved.
