Mayans M.C. preview: EZ goes on the run

This week’s episode of Mayans M.C. sees EZ on the run and Emily being forced to make a terrible decision.

Eight episodes in and Mayans M.C. is finally raising the stakes. Last week, the show introduced some game-changing storylines. Adelita, the leader of Los Olvidados, made clear she wanted to partner with Galindo in order to reap some good from the “Devil’s” work. The episode ended with Galindo in handcuffs (again), thanks to the reappearance of D.A. Potter. So that plan looks to be stalled.

We also watched as Coco brutally murdered his own mother, drowning her in a bathtub after his daughter, Lettie, claimed she was abusing her. That turned out to be a lie — though grandma was pimping Lettie out for rent money, so it’s hard to feel sympathy for her — and once again, Coco found himself disposing of a body because of the unruly teen.

On this week’s “Rata/Ch’o,” EZ’s in hot water with the club and the Feds as Potter swoops in to take over the stalled investigation, putting the prospect’s deal at risk. DEA Agent Kevin advises EZ to make a run for it, warning him that his work with the Feds will probably be exposed to the club at some point. And in the latest promo, EZ can be seen doing just that as Bishop grills Angel on his brother’s disappearance before ominously stating, “I’ll make sure we do it right.”

Things don’t look much better for EZ’s old flame, Emily, as she faces her own dilemma. Last week’s episode ended with Galindo back in police custody and his home being raided by Potter’s men. This week, it looks like the D.A. is targeting Emily as well, arresting her and taking her son away before possibly striking a deal with her. Is Potter trying to get Emily to snitch on her cartel boss husband?

Emily’s been loyal to Galindo this entire season, despite his concerning behavior towards her and others. I can’t believe Potter’s threats will be the thing to make her turn, although the risk of losing her son (again) might spur Emily to make a hasty, emotional decision. Either way, both EZ and Emily seem to have some difficult decisions to make this week, and they might just be the difference between life or death.
