It’s long been speculated that the Fantastic Beasts franchise would venture around the world and J.K. Rowling has now confirmed that this will indeed be the case.

While we know so much about the Wizarding World, we equally know so little as well. One of the things we know so very little about is what other magical cultures are like, especially outside of Europe and America. Fantastic Beasts has long been suspected to venture around the world to explore these cultures, and J.K. Rowling confirmed that this will indeed be the case.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly about the upcoming sequel to the Fantastic Beasts movie, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Rowling spoke about many topics, including the connection between Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts and what lies ahead after the upcoming movie.

When discussing the future of the series, Rowling explained how she had already mapped out the entire five-movie franchise. And that while some of the details may be altered, the overall story arc is set.

She then went on to explain about branching outside of the already well known Wizarding World.

"It’s far too early to spoil anything. What I can say is that we’ll go to at least one new city in the next film, possibly two, and I’m keen to move outside Europe and North America. But you’ll just have to wait and see."

More from Harry Potter

We already knew that each of the movies would take place in different cities, but we never knew for sure if it would be outside of countries that the Wizarding World had already explored, a.k.a Europe and America.

Fingers crossed this means that the franchise will explore these areas of the Wizarding World that we know some detail of, but in truth, know next to nothing. For example, we know of all the magical schools around the world, but it is really only Hogwarts and Ilvermorny that we know in great detail.

Where we may go and what we will learn, is obviously a very closely guarded secret that J.K, Rowling will no doubt be keeping to herself for now. However, it’s great to see that we might be getting to explore these areas that we have been so desperate to see for years.
