When we look at the Harry Potter series, it is obvious we’re all muggles. That being said, we at least know that we’re better than some of those in the books.
As much as we don’t want to be muggles, let’s face the facts. If we were in a world where magic was real, wouldn’t we all be at Hogwarts by now? So we have to live with the knowledge that we’re not going to get our wands and go to Hogwarts.
That being said, how did the muggles in the Harry Potter series sincerely not know that wizards were out there? Jacob Kowalski proves to us that even when something goes wrong and a muggle is in the crossfire, if they love magic as much as Jacob does, no memory spell truly works.
So if Jacob can remember Queenie and his time with Newt, surely there are other muggles in the world who remember the wizards, right? There’s no way that there is an entire subset of people who just don’t see the wizards around them.
It just isn’t believable, especially with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. If Jacob hadn’t remembered Queenie, Tina, and Newt, then that’s different. But he did and now the idea that there are other no-majs out there looking to the wizarding world is interesting. They might not know what they remember but at least they got to experience the magic while they could.
Or who knows, Hogwarts can really be there and we could be wrong.
Us mere mortals can be back in the world of Harry Potter this coming November when Newt Scamander and his friends find a way to take down Grindelwald. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them hits theaters this November 16.
