With Luke Cage ending its run at Netflix, fans and crew alike have used Twitter to express their reactions to the cancellation.
Well, Luke Cage won’t be coming back either. Joining Iron Fist, the Hero of Harlem has seen his run on Netflix come to an end after two seasons. Although Iron Fist might have seemed a touch more inevitable due to fan reaction, the Luke Cage cancellation, dropped on a Friday with not much in the way of warning, seems to have hit fans and crew alike just a little differently.
Let’s start with some of the more official reactions.
First off, here are the tweets from both the show and the showrunner, Cheo Hodari Coker:

A lot memories. A lot of individual thank you calls to make. Just want to say thank you to Marvel, Netflix, the best Writer’s room, cast, crew, the Midnight Hour, all those who graced the stage at Harlem’s Paradise and the most incredible fan base in the world. Forward always...

Notably, the image posted by the Luke Cage Twitter and then Coker both use the idea of moving forward. IGN speculated in its article that this could lead to Jessica Jones seeing another visit from Mike Colter, which seems entirely possible.
Meanwhile, the man behind the TV incarnation of Danny Rand, Finn Jones, posted a supportive photo:
Not much more needs to be said, even when the caption is just three emoji.
Meanwhile, fans started speculating about the future of Luke Cage and Iron Fist, considering how the characters’ relationship seemed to improve greatly in The Defenders and Luke Cage‘s second season, and the heroes themselves have a past in the comics.
Luke Cage has been canceled.

Now wouldn’t be a bad time to team up Luke and Iron Fist for a Heroes for Hire show also featuring the Daughters of the Dragon, Misty Knight and Colleen Wing.
Luke Cage being cancelled on Netflix is only a set up for the Disney streaming service next year.

all my Marvel fans: don’t trip.
Looking at these three tweets, a Daughters of the Dragon or Heroes for Hire series seems like it wouldn’t be a bad idea. It’s unlikely that it’d go to Hulu, though; this writer is intrigued by the idea of Disney perhaps picking up either of the two aforementioned ideas and running with them on that streaming service.
Even though it has both Loki and Scarlet Witch lined up for their own series, being able to convince Netflix subscribers who showed up for the Marvel shows on that service to subscribe to Disney as well at the prospect of Heroes for Hire seems like a wise move.
But there were fans who also hoped that another Marvel show that lasted only two seasons could see a revival a few years after its initial cancellation:
Now that #Netflix cancelled both #LukeCage and #Ironfist (which sucks) maybe they could pick up #AgentCarter, I still miss that show. #justsaying

And New York is still big in the Marvel movies. Could this crossover actually happen? After all, Infinity War took away many a hero. The Avengers can use all the help they can get.
Frankly, I hope Luke Cage and Iron Fist being canceled means we get to see them in the movies.

Would you watch Heroes for Hire, or do you prefer Daughters of the Dragon?
