Crazy Ex-Girlfriend review: There’s a ghost in Rebecca’s pipes
Paula makes the mistake of telling Rebecca to go online, and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend takes her on quite the journey in the confines of her apartment.
Rebecca won’t leave her apartment, so she creates a ghost on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. That seems crazy but again, this is Rebecca Bunch, and Paula makes the mistake of showing Rebecca an article outing all her past behavior.
Whoever wrote it knew all about her actions against Josh, what she did with Greg’s dad, and, furthermore, what happened on the roof with Trent. Like any good woman, Rebecca wanted to read what the comments were saying about her. So she sat there for three days, not showering, and read every single thing someone said.
When Heather decides that she needs to get out of the apartment, she invites her to a screening of Hocus Pocus using Kathy Najimy to try and lure Rebecca out of her room. The problem? She can’t get out of the door, and she’s exceptionally good at finding things to do that aren’t going outside:
Within her cabin fever dream, Rebecca hears a book fall off a shelf, and it opens to a chapter where a girl dies in their home. After telling Hector an dHeather, Rebecca is convinced they have to have a seance to talk to the girl and get her out of their home.
Obviously, there is a power outage across the town because this is West Covina, after all, and so Rebecca and her friends decide to go to the girl’s grave to honor her to try and get her out of their home … which brings in the Patton Oswalt.
Castleman basically serves as a reminder to put everything into perspective and also remind Rebecca and Paula just how creepy he was back when Paula went on a date with him. And maybe his is one of the best songs on the entire show thus far (“It was a S**tshow” still ranks pretty high up on the list for best Crazy Ex-Girlfriend song).
There is a side note of Darryl trying to find breast milk for his daughter and he puts White Josh in charge when he leaves. It has been established that White Josh doesn’t like children but he starts to warm up to Darryl’s baby when Josh comes over with a koala costume. His attention to her and dedication to helping Darryl let us know that White Josh does still love Darryl. This episode reminded us all that their story isn’t done which means that we might be getting a reunion between Darryl and White Josh.
Overall the episode was a typical Rebecca adventure where she convinces everyone to go on her wild journey even though most of them have reservations. If anything, the only two who were with Rebecca were Hector and Valencia.
Now, though, we have “The Cringe” to get us through the darkest of Halloweens.
