At ACE Comic Con, Chris Evans discussed the relationship between Bucky Barnes and Steve Rogers, and fans are delighted with his thoughtfulness.

During ACE Comic Con in Chicago this weekend, some lucky fans got the chance to get pictures and autographs with Chris Evans. Evans was also on a panel, along with Lee Pace and Karen Gillan, and was asked a variety of questions about Steve Rogers.

A few of his answers have fans of Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes really excited. It’s no secret that Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes are favorite characters in the MCU, and many fans see a romantic relationship as a possibility between the two characters, while others appreciate their relationship as one of best friends. Regardless of how you feel about the nature of their relationship, if you love Steve and Bucky, you’ll love what Evans had to say at the panel.

One fan asked how Steve Rogers has dealt with the fact he’s seen his pal Bucky die not once but twice, and the impact that’s left on Cap.

Evans’ answer was thoughtful and reflected on how important Bucky Barnes is to Steve.

“I think that’s one of the more precious relationships for Steve Rogers. It’s one of the few relationships that’s been able to transfer into the modern day. It’s one of the few relationships that he can identify as anything we would call home,” Evans said, then giving pause. He clearly did not want to give too much away about how the death would impact Steve in Avengers 4.

“Yeah, I don’t know how far I can go into that response. I’m going to have to maybe leave it there. I’ve already got myself in enough hot water with Marvel the past couple of weeks,” he joked.

Evans also had some adorable thoughts about his co-star, Sebastian Stan. Another fan asked what his favorite memories were of filming with Stan over the years.

“Probably it’s from the first movie I think in that, with those memories, him and I were both in a very similar place in terms of excitement, uncertainty, and hope,” Evans responded. “I think we both were a little bit of deer in the headlights, unsure of what the commitment meant, unsure of what the journey ahead would mean. But, you know he’s such a sweetheart. He’s such a good guy.”

Evans added that Stan almost has kindness coming “out of his pores.”

“He’s just such a sweet guy. I really couldn’t have imagined kind of dipping our toes into these uncertain waters at that stage with anyone other than him,” Evans said of his co-star. “He was so sweet. I think that first movie he and I were just so terrified together, it made for a lot of nice memories.”

We can only imagine the type of journey the two have been on together as the popularity of their films has taken off. It seems that Evans was in a nostalgic mood, likely as he just wrapped filming Avengers 4 and knows he might not play the character of Captain America again.

We just hope he and Sebastian Stan stay in touch (and based off the kind words Evans had to share, we’re sure they will).
