Star Wars Resistance preview: Captain Phasma makes her series debut

Kaz is officially a spy for the good guys in the next episode of Star Wars Resistance. Instead of working on his cover as a mechanic in Yeager’s shop, however, he’s desperate to find information about the First Order.

In the series premiere, Poe Dameron left Kaz and BB-8 behind on the Colossus to carry out their spying mission. While Kaz didn’t do a fantastic job at keeping a low profile and blending in with the crowd the first time around, he has a chance to do that now. The thing is he wants to hit the ground running and jump right into getting intel for the Resistance.

That’s totally understandable. Poe assigned him an objective and he wants to see it through as soon as possible. He doesn’t want to waste time by pretending to be someone else. He’s also working with information that no one else knows about, specifically how the First Order is planning an attack on the New Republic — his home.

He’ll no doubt run into a few obstacles and get himself into trouble again, like running into Grevel, the Aleena character who hustled him in a game of space darts, as well as pirates.

Thankfully for him, that’s where the star pilots of the Colossus come in. While they’re known for entertaining the crowds with high-speed sky races, they also act as protectors of the refueling station. With the pirates looking to wreak havoc, we can’t wait to see them clash in the night sky, like in the clip below.

Something else fans should expect to see in this next episode? Gwendoline Christie guest starring as Captain Phasma.

We imagine Phasma will be used sparingly throughout the series, like Darth Vader in Star Wars Rebels. After all, if the bad guy keeps losing fight after fight against the good guys, then they become less intimidating. Phasma hasn’t had any major victories in the sequel films, so here’s hoping that changes in Resistance.

Lastly, while it’s great to see the First Order make an appearance in this episode via Phasma, we also hope the focus finds its way back to the new characters. We want to learn more about their motivations, their backgrounds, and how they live their lives on the Colossus before the First Order inevitably comes out of the shadows and disrupts the peaceful galaxy.
