The Good Place preview: Is there a surprising revelation coming?
The Good Place never ceases to turn expectations upside down. In this week’s episode, the entire study group might be in danger… yet again.
There’s a doings a transpiring on The Good Place, but something’s always bound to go wrong. Now that Michael and Janet can’t interfere with their demon and not-robot powers, things may look even more dire.
But don’t they always look that way in The Good Place?
Here’s the official synopsis for this week’s episode, courtesy of NBC:
"A surprising announcement from one of the humans threatens to dissolve the group."
Well, that’s oddly not-specific — which doesn’t surprise me for The Good Place.
This could literally mean anyone saying anything. Does Chidi pop the question to Simone? Does Simone break up with Chidi? Will Eleanor say something uncouth that turns everyone against her?
Do Jason and Tahani officially hook up and Jason can’t keep quiet? Wait, that one’s happened before… so it’s quite possible, especially since Jason isn’t the brightest.
Or is this synopsis a trick synopsis? Now that Michael and Janet are on Earth and powerless, do they technically count as human? What if Michael introduces himself to the group as their new fifth member? Or Janet? Maybe she wants to be closer to Jason to protect him/make sure he’s okay.
Man, I’m really hoping this episode subverts the expectations and goes the Michael or Janet route. The writers tend to swerve around what we expect from them, so whatever happens will most likely surprise us all.
Or, if they really want to throw us for a loop, that kid that was in Simone’s office should come back and say that his grandma didn’t actually die–he just wanted to skip class. Something that doesn’t actually really matter.
But everything that happens in The Good Place seems to happen for a reason…
The Good Place airs Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. EST. Check back on Culturess for our recap and reviews.
