Skybound Games will pick up The Walking Dead video games from Telltale
Fans of The Walking Dead Games and of Clementine can feel hopeful again as Robert Kirkman announces that Skybound will finish the game series.
Fans of Telltale’s The Walking Dead series have been wondering about the fate of their favorite characters in the series after Telltale Games announced that it is closing down. The game series has been quite a popular one, and many fans were especially concerned about the fate of Clementine, the character in the series who has been around the longest.
The Walking Dead: The Final Season was supposed to be released in four incremental chapters, but, so far, only one chapter has been released. The second, which was supposed to come out last week, was stalled after the issues with Telltale Games. The first episode was also pulled from websites and is unavailable for purchase.
Fans can now rejoice, however, as Skybound Games is planning to pick up the series. During a panel at New York Comic Con, series creator Robert Kirkman announced that Skybound will be finishing the series, saying as reported by CBR, “We’ve successfully negotiated with Telltale Games for our company Skybound to come in and see season 4 of the Telltale game to completion. We can’t lose Andrew Lincoln and Clementine in the same year.”
We definitely have to agree with that statement. These games have followed her story for years, and it would be a shame and a letdown to many fans if the story was never finished and left on a cliffhanger.
The first TWD game, based on the comic series, was launched in 2012 and received critical acclaim and amazing sales. Additional “seasons” of the game were released in 2013, 2016, and 2018.
Kirkman also said, “Just stay tuned, everyone involved is trying to make sure the Clementine storyline is finished. I’m [not as worried about fitting into the comic] because I’m hoping the games will eventually be completed.”
There aren’t many more details known at this point, but we hope that the game will be developed sooner rather than later.
