Star Wars rumors: 3 roles Pedro Pascal could play in the new show

With rumors flying that Pedro Pascal is going to be part of the Star Wars universe, it’s time to imagine him in a few different roles.

Whether or not you’re necessarily excited for the Star Wars live-action series as a whole, it’s hard not to be excited at the prospect that it might have Pedro Pascal playing one of the main characters. That’s the latest report from Making Star Wars, anyway.

While there’s no official confirmation yet — filming is reportedly just starting this week — if it’s true, it means that Pascal might have the chance to last more than one season on a big-budget, household-name genre TV show, and for that, we are grateful.

But who could he be? As MSW also points out, the series will reportedly be about Mandalore. With that in mind, let’s get to our guesses.

A member of Clan Kryze

Clan Kryze is one of the most important parts of Star Wars canon when it comes to Mandalore. Bo-Katan Kryze is the leader of Mandalore at the end of Star Wars Rebels; her elder sister, Satine, had a special connection to Obi-Wan Kenobi. Since MSW specifically refers to the “restoration of Mandalore,” it seems likely that a main character would be someone who’s part of the ruling clan.

A new clan head

Alternatively, depending on the tone taken by the series, perhaps it’ll have more of a political thriller bent. If that’s the case, then Pedro Pascal as another leader trying to make his mark on the new Mandalore makes a lot of sense. He could even be in an antagonistic role — or an antihero — with this kind of character, and we think it’d suit him just fine.

A bounty hunter or mercenary

Even though Star Wars does like its characters of noble lineage or in leadership positions, it’s also shown a particular turn to the idea that anyone can be a protagonist or hero. With that in mind, having Pascal play a bounty hunter who’s on the side of the good guys would both reinforce that theme and show that even bounty hunters, who tend to play more antagonistic roles, can be heroic in the galaxy far, far away. It’d also nicely contrast with Jango and Boba Fett, both famous for their Mandalorian armor as much as their villainous turns in the prequel and original trilogies, respectively.
