Taylor Swift to sing at AMAs for first time since 2014: Watch her cat react!

Taylor Swift will perform at the American Music Awards (AMAs) for the first time since 2014, and she shared her cat’s hilarious reaction.

Taylor Swift fans, rejoice! Your beloved songstress will be singing at the AMAs for the first time in four years. And it won’t just be any performance: She’s set to open the show. Taylor’s Swifties (as her fans are known) are onto her love for her cats, and the singer even shared her cat Meredith’s very funny reaction to the news.

Taylor Swift set to rock American Music Awards

Swift sported a black shirt in the Instagram video in which she made her announcement about heading back to the AMAs. The video was unveiled first on Good Morning America, according to People.

But as Taylor shared her exciting news about opening up the American Music Awards with a performance, her cat Meredith stole her human’s spotlight in the video.

As Meredith picked up her paws to stalk away and attend to very important kitty business, Swift halted her announcement.

“Don’t be too excited about it, my God,” said the famous songstress to the unimpressed cat.

While Meredith sneers, we’re sure Swifties share Taylor’s excitement about serving as the opening act for the upcoming American Music Awards. The songstress has chosen “I Did Something Bad” for her performance, which will mark the first time she’s sung at the AMAs since 2014. That year, Swift crooned “Blank Space,” winning the Dick Clark Award for Excellence.

Taylor has already taken home an impressive 19 AMAs. This year, she reaped nominations for artist of the year; favorite female artist, pop/rock; favorite album, pop/rock; and favorite tour of the year.

Mark your calendar to view the 2018 American Music Awards on Tuesday, Oct. 9. The show will be aired live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles at 8:00 p.m. EST on ABC.
