A dog and magical creature have been added to the list of pets you can acquire in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. Which will you choose?

They might not have been official pets when Harry went to school, but they may have been before Harry’s time. A dog and a magical creature have been added to the list of pets’ in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery in the latest update.

Without trying to sound bad to dogs or anything, but the dog is just that. A dog. There isn’t really anything special about the pet being added to the list. The magical creature, however, is more interesting.

More from Harry Potter

A creature that players would have stumbled across in year 4. It’s called the streeler, and it looks remarkably like a big snail, the only difference being that it is able to change color on an hourly basis. Oh, and it leaves a venomous trail wherever it goes. So don’t touch it.

Interestingly, how you acquire the dog and the streeler is completely different from the other pets in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. Instead of buying the pets with gems, you purchase the dog or streeler with notebooks.

A new currency only available in the new House Pride event. An event which sees’ players earn rewards based upon the number of house points they earn while taking part in the event.

There is a bit of a problem trying to purchase one of the new pets. As things stand it is impossible. The House Pride event gives out a maximum of 15 notebooks and the new pets cost at least 50. So unless Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery brings out a new way to earn notebooks, we are not adding a dog or streeler to our pet collection anytime soon.
