Amber Benson – Tara

Her place in the Buffy-verse: Although Amber Benson was only credited as “series regular” one episode – the one in which her character died – everyone remembers Tara as Willow’s greatest and most tragic love (sorry Oz).

Their shared inherent magic initially brought them together, but once they discovered their shared power, their relationship took off from there. Shy and reserved, Tara was reminiscent of how Willow was when we first met her, and their relationship brought out a confidence in her. In turn, her kind and patient nature helped Willow get over the terrible breakup and subsequent depression after she and Oz parted ways. Tara died tragically, taking a bullet that was meant for Buffy, and this sent Willow to a dark place,

Her post-Buffy career: After playing Tara, Benson went on to do several TV movies and guest starred in some one-off roles in popular TV shows, including Supernatural. She even starred across from Sarah Michelle Gellar in the short-lived Ringer on The CW.

Where is she now? While Benson continues to act here and there, she mostly focuses her attention behind the camera and in the writers’ room. She authors The Echo Park Coven series, and has contributed to other graphic novels, most notably, Star vs. the Forces of Evil Star and Marco’s Guide to Mastering Every Dimension (Guide to Life).
