Charisma Carpenter – Cordelia
Her place in the Buffy-verse: Charisma Carpenter played the mean girl, Cordelia. We first meet her as she harasses and belittles Willow and Xander and tries to recruit the new girl, Buffy, into her clique. Thankfully, Buffy recognizes her people, and Cordelia became a toothless antagonist to the gang for many seasons.
Cordelia eventually settles as a bit of a friend to the group, and her character develops substantially through her relationships with Zander and Wesley. She had great potential to live up to the feminist ideals set out by Buffy, Willow and Faith, and she eventually proved her worth.
Her post-Buffy career: Much like Boreanaz’s Angel, Carpenter’s Cordelia moved to Los Angeles to fight demons on the west coast. There, her character evolved into a much more substantial and hardened crusader for the good. From a show about vampires to a show about witches, Carpenter played a seer on the popular CW show, Charmed. Beloved by the network, she had a recurring row on Veronica Mars as well, dipping back in her Buffy roots as a vapid, materialistic mean girl.
Where is she now? Carpenter quite a busy actor. She’s done cheeky, self-referential guest spots, appearing with James Marsters on another CW show, Supernatural. She gave a nod to her Buffy past, playing the mother of Ariana Grande’s character on Scream Queens. She’s popped up on lots of popular shows, including Chicago P.D., Lucifer, and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, and is known to star in Hallmark movie of her own.
