These 20 actors and actresses were all considered to play iconic roles in Marvel movies at one point. Our favorite characters could have been way different!

Many of the actors in the Marvel universe have been cast so perfectly, it’s hard to even imagine that things could have gone differently. Who else could play Steve Rogers as perfectly as Chris Evans? Who could capture Tony Stark’s essence as well as Robert Downey Jr.? Then, there’s the whole cast of Black Panther which is so spot on; we couldn’t get enough of the complexity of all of those characters.

But the MCU and other Marvel movies might have looked a lot different if some of the following actors and actresses had been cast instead. We’ve put together a list of 20 actors who almost had Marvel roles. You might be surprised by some of the people on this list.

While not everyone will always agree on all casting choices, it is pretty fascinating to try and imagine the Marvel movies with some of these actors instead. Some of these actors got closer than others, but all were being considered at one point or another for a role in a Marvel movie. We can’t wait to hear what you all think about some of these choices.
