The origin of Nagini will be revealed in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Does this mean that Voldemort, or rather Tom Riddle, will appear one day too?

“The Wizarding World you know, the story you don’t.” Those words couldn’t be truer with the reveal that was made in the latest Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald trailer; as Nagini, the loyal and faithful snake of Lord Voldemort is essentially getting an origin story arc.

So, with this in mind, could we potentially see Voldemort, or rather Tom Riddle, appear one day in Fantastic Beasts? Will we get to see how both Nagini and Voldemort came to meet one another? Let’s take a look.

More from Harry Potter

What’s certain is that if it is too happen, it certainly won’t be happening in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald; but it is entirely possible Voldemort will show up at some point in a future installment.

We already know that the Fantastic Beasts series will be spread across five different movies/stories, including Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, and the timelines do intersect with Voldemort’s, back when everybody knew him as Tom Riddle.

Riddle went to Hogwarts in 1938, which could possibly coincide with the third installment of the franchise. Then we have the time when created his first Horcrux in 1943, which is a couple of years before Dumbledore defeats Grindelwald.

Considering Fantastic Beasts will tell the story of the rise and fall of Grindelwald, and there will be continuous connections to the Harry Potter series throughout, there is clearly plenty of opportunity to bring Riddle into Fantastic Beasts.

And now that we know all about Nagini, is it not possible that the two could meet at some point. We know from Harry Potter that Voldemort met Nagini prior to his return in The Goblet of Fire. How prior is the question? Was it in the Albanian forest after his defeat to baby Harry? Sooner? Or perhaps later? Even before they met, it doesn’t necessarily mean they didn’t come into contact before.

More: Why did we have to change the Nagini storyline?

Nagini may have encountered Riddle much earlier but didn’t seek him out until after his fall to Harry.

When you think about it, anything is possible really, after all, “The Wizarding World you know, the story you don’t.”
