DANCING WITH THE STARS – “EpisodeÊ2701 – “DancingÊwith the Stars” is back with a new, dynamic cast of 13 celebrities who are ready to move out of their comfort zones and hit the ballroom floor on a special two-night premiere. The competition begins with a two-hour season premiere, live,ÊMONDAY, SEPT. 24Ê(8:00-10:00 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network. (ABC/Eric McCandless)

TOM BERGERON, JOHN SCHNEIDER, EMMA SLATER

12. Joe Amabile and Jenna Johnson (14; safe)

There’s really not much that can be said about “Grocery Store Joe,” because the judges said it all on Monday night. However, he was called safe, with Erin Andrews proving that the fans are strong just by getting what sounded like the entire female live audience to cheer for him.

However, if his scores don’t tick up, he’s not going to last on fan love forever. It is a rare thing to get a 4 from any individual judge, even Len Goodman.

11. John Schneider and Emma Slater (18; safe)

That 18 doesn’t make it immediately clear that John Schneider also received a 5 during his first dance of the season, and that “safe” doesn’t immediately indicate that he was actually prepared to dance again on Tuesday night. Instead, he got a last-minute reprieve from having to perform again, and as with Joe and Jenna, there are only so many of those that come in any one season.

10. Bobby Bones and Sharna Burgess (20; safe)

The judges must have seen something that this reviewer didn’t. He’s popular enough that he has a few weeks left, but the judges’ tolerance for his exuberance won’t last forever if he doesn’t improve.

9. Danelle Umstead and Artem Chigvintsev (18; 18)

There were a couple missteps in her second foxtrot, but Danelle Umstead ultimately looked more comfortable on the floor than she did in the first night of competition. “Tonight, you impressed me,” Carrie Ann declared. However, she didn’t improve on her scores from Monday night, so she lands at the top of the lower tier.
