The secret is out, Nagini is to feature in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, but who is Nagini and how does she connect to the Harry Potter series.
If you haven’t heard yet, the final trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald has officially been released. There was a lot to take away from the trailer, but the biggest moment was the reveal of Nagini, played by Claudia Kim.
It’s been predicted that she would feature in the latest Wizarding World installment, but nothing was being confirmed, until now; making it a big moment for many of us when it did happen. Yet, not everyone knows why she is so important, and how she connects to the Harry Potter series, so let’s take a look at that now.

Oh, and if you are someone who doesn’t know why Nagini is a big deal, that’s fine, there is no judgment here. We have all arrived at the Wizarding World in different ways. Nicholas Flamel was a big deal in the last trailer, and a lot of people didn’t know why, as long as you have made it to the Wizarding World, that is all that matters.
Anyway, I digress. Let’s take a look at Nagini.

Now in case you missed it, Nagini is the girl who suddenly turned into a snake. Although it is a cool trick, it comes with a heavy price. Nagini is a Maledictus, who is someone whose blood was cursed from birth; this curse eventually leads to the said person being turned into a beast, permanently.

In the Harry Potter series, which is set further forward in time from Fantastic Beasts, Lord Voldemort had a snake almost permanently by his side, this snake was unlike any other, almost human-like.
And it was also called Nagini.

Fans have speculated that Claudia Kim, who until the final trailer was released, character was known only as Maledictus, would be Nagini, Voldemort’s snake. There where a lot of clues to point us in this direction, but only now has it been confirmed.
This is a really big deal for a number of reasons, but the best part is that once again, Fantastic Beasts and Harry Potter are connecting with one another on a scale, unlike anything anybody has ever seen before.
We will need to see how thing play out for Nagini, as in will we see how she becomes the faithful servant of Lord Voldemort, but right now we have the origin.
