With one Oscar nomination under his belt, Timothée Chalamet is surely on his way to a second with his performance in Beautiful Boy if the trailer is anything to go by.

Depicting the struggle Nic (Timothée Chalamet) has with addiction, Beautiful Boy brings a new light to both Chalamet’s career as well as Steve Carell’s. Reuniting The Office couple Holly and Michael (Amy Ryan plays Nick’s mother), the trailer has everyone talking about a potential second Oscar nomination for Chalamet.

Based on the memoirs by David and Nic Sheff, the movie shows what addiction can do not only to the individual but the family there trying to support them.

Watch the new trailer below:

Nic is caught between his addiction and trying to make his family proud of him. Chalamet manages to bring a realness to his performance that, like his father, has you as the audience worried about what is going to happen to him.

David Sheff (Carell) says in the trailer that he once had all these dreams for Nic; now, he just doesn’t want him to die. It’s a heart-wrenching notion, and it drives home the message of the film that supporting and helping those struggling with addiction is equally as hard on the family as it is on those facing their addiction problems.

Since coming onto the scene in last year’s Call Me By Your Name, Chalamet has been one to watch, and Beautiful Boy may be the ticket to his first Oscar win. Reviews are stating that his performance is the best of the season so far, so it will be interesting to see things pan out against Bradley Cooper in A Star is Born and former co-star Lucas Hedges in Boy Erased.

Next. Josh Charles is the Armie Hammer to Armie Hammer’s Timothée Chalamet. dark
