Daredevil season 3 poster teases darkness is coming

A new poster has been released for Daredevil season 3, and it seems that religious themes will be a big part of this new season as darkness descends.

The Darkness is coming to Hell’s Kitchen, or at least that’s what the new poster for the third season of Daredevil seems to be proclaiming. And with that darkness comes a bit more religion than in past seasons (considering Matt Murdock is a religious man who seeks the guidance of a priest, religion has always been a thing in the series).

From the imagery of the Daredevil mask dangling from a cross outside of a church, to the season tagline of “Let There Be Darkness,” to the accompanying tweet from the series which simply said “Job 30:26,” religion is definitely making an impact on our titular hero.

Here’s the poster:

For those unfamiliar with the Bible verse in question, Job 30:26 in the King James Bible reads as, “When I looked for good, then evil came unto me: and when I waited for light, there came darkness.” Not only does the tagline and Bible verse speak of a coming darkness, but seeing Daredevil’s mask adorning a cross makes things seem much more bleak than we could have imagined.

For those who have watched The Defenders, Daredevil was thought to be lost under the rubble once Midland Circle was destroyed, and yet we saw him being cared for by nuns. And for those who also tuned in for the second season of Iron Fist, you may have seen the post-credits scene which makes it clear that Daredevil is about to embrace being the “Devil of Hell’s Kitchen” for real.

With all those clues at our disposal and the new poster teasing at the darkness that is coming, it looks like we are going to see Daredevil embracing the dark and truly immersing himself in his role as the Devil. He might be trying to save people, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t already a darkness to Matt Murdock. And after all he has been through, it should come as no surprise that he is going into the third season as a changed man.

While we don’t know much more about season 3 of Daredevil, perhaps we will get to see a storyline pulled straight from the comics, particularly if they stick to the “Born Again” story that seemed to inspire his time with the nuns after escaping certain death in The Defenders.

We will have to wait and see what comes next for Daredevil as we head into season 3 of the series. However, it looks like there will definitely be a focus on religion and an all-encompassing darkness that will likely change our hero forever.
