Robert Downey Jr.

You may not know this but before he was Tony Stark, Robert Downey Jr. spent a season on Saturday Night Live as an actor and writer. There’s a good reason why this isn’t widely known, as RDJ bombed (as well as most that cast) because the show was trying something new where episodes would have cinematic themes. While it didn’t work, it did show us that RDJ can carry his own on a comedic stage.

In 1996, RDJ came back to studio 8H to host but, since famously becoming sober, he has yet to take on the show. With Avengers 4 being his final performance as Iron Man, we think RDJ deserves to say goodbye to the character on one of the most famous late-night shows in the country.

So SNL, please take our pitch to bring Robert Downey Jr. back to SNL. Maybe we can get another one of those sketches where he was just in a suitcase the entire time.
