Ariana Grande has had a busy few months leading up to the August release of her album Sweetener. When pop music fans found out she was readying new music, we all prayed for some bops to take over the airwaves the same way her singles “Side To Side” featuring Nicki Minaj, “Into You”, and “Break Free” had done years earlier. While none of the songs have the same immediate “banger” quality, the lead single “no tears left to cry” was without a doubt going to be a summer hit.

When the song was announced, many thought it was Ariana’s ode to the Manchester bombing, and people definitely thought it would be an emotional ballad, but we were so wrong. The song is about being out of tears to cry and finally being in a good state of mind, ready to love life and live it up. The midtempo track was crazy catchy, and fans welcomed the return of one of our favorite pop princesses.
