Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery gets Year 5 story, new characters, classes, and more

School is back for the students of Hogwarts and that means exciting classes, new friends, and awesome adventures. For Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery gamers, it also means the Year 5 story has begun.

Sept. 1 marked the start of the new year at Hogwarts. Bright-eyed first years headed off on the big adventure, with some only just learning that magic exists. Other students returned ready to master new spells and charms. Those who play Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery got a special treat this week as the start of the Year 5 story was added.

It’s time for players to head back to school to begin arguably the most exciting year of Hogwarts yet. That’s definitely the case for gamers, as new characters, new classes, and more adventures are added.

This is certainly the most challenging of years. Sure, there are more exams and lessons to come, but Year 5 really hits the game up a notch. This is the year that many will become prefects—if you earned the prefect badge during the Year 4 content. You’ll get to take on the new responsibilities and even gain access to the prefect’s bathroom.

You’ll want to pay attention in your classes this year. It’s time for the Ordinary Wizarding Levels (O.W.L.s) this year. Of course, we can’t forget all about the mischief that you can get up to in the new locations, such as Knockturn Alley!

Like with every year, there’s a new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, who will be revealed within the game. Jam City won’t let anyone know ahead of time! And look out for a new member of the Weasley family in the school, along with other new characters.
