3 questions we still have after the American Horror Story: Apocalypse trailer
The full trailer for American Horror Story: Apocalypse is here, and we still have many pressing questions about what’s to come.
It’s time to get excited, everyone! The full American Horror Story: Apocalypse trailer has finally dropped, and the show is starting next week. There was a lot of imagery and moments packed into this short trailer, but we still have a lot of questions about what’s coming up in this season:
Are zombies going to be featured in this season?
In the trailer, Sarah Paulson’s new character says, “You may never leave the building due to the danger of radiation contamination.”
While it’s clear throughout the trailer that the apocalypse is happening outside, and nuclear fallout seems to be the cause, we also see a group of people who look sickly and deformed huddled over what appears to be some sort of body. They appear to be eating something bloody, but it is unclear if they are zombies or just starving for food.
Is the couple shown in the trailer an allegory for a new Adam and Eve?
With the world ending and starting anew, it would make sense if they are setting up some sort of biblical metaphor with Adam and Eve. Sarah Paulson’s character in charge of Outpost 3, the underground bunker, tells the couple that “no unauthorized copulation” is allowed.
This is followed by a brief moment of seeing the couple kissing under the stairs followed by a snake slithering among clothes hanging in a closet. This seems like direct imagery to the Adam and Eve story, and it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
What is going on at this outpost 3?
While this location seems to be a safe place away from the apocalypse where residents are safe from the radiation and the horrors going on outside, it is clearly not a place one wants to be. With Sarah Paulson looking more evil than we’ve ever seen her, and Kathy Bates taking on another terrifying role, we start to see some of the horrible things happening there, including physical punishments. And we hear Paulson’s character say: “it’s strangely satisfying, isn’t it? Dispensing punishment?”
These are just a few of the questions we have. We are also wondering how all of the characters fit together into this season, and how many repeat characters from past seasons we will see. What burning questions about the season do you have?
