Harry Potter houses: Why they are limiting to an individual

facebooktwitterreddit

We all love to label ourselves as the houses from Harry Potter but, when you think about it, it is extremely limiting to us as people.

The Hogwarts houses in the Harry Potter series are very important to fans. They want to know what their house is and if their favorite characters are part of that house of not. So it is fasinating that we don’t focus on how they limit us as fans.

Looking at yourself as a Gryffindor is well and fun in theory but you are then making it so that you’re only a Gryffindor. Lately, we’ve started to branch out and many fans are talking about which two houses they are mainly like but still, it is clear that fans of the series are indiviuals who end up getting typed into the houses we chose.

Take for instance Ravenclaws. Other than knowing that they are extremely intelligent, what else do we know about them? Sure, we met Luna Lovegood and Cho Chang but even the two of them were reliant on their intelligence throughout the series. Granted, Luna’s intelligence was very different than Cho’s, they were still very much Ravenclaws.

It is almost as if the squibs are more interesting because they have no magical ability but are part of this world. They’re what we all would be in the series (because let’s be real, we want to be witches and wizards but we have no magical abilities. That makes us squibs).

So basically, don’t let the Harry Potter houses limit you to what you are represented as. You can be more than just brave at heart.

Next. It’s the night before the students return to Hogwarts!. dark

What does your Harry Potter house say about you? Do you agree with it or are you more than what a Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Slytherin, or Hufflepuff has to say about you? Sound off in the comments below and let us know what you think!
