2002: Friends

Friends first aired back in 1994. The show about six friends living in Manhattan has gone down as one of the best sitcoms ever, and even after ten seasons of the show, fans are still demanding more. Unfortunately, 14 years after the series finale, there is still no plan for any kind of reunion special or reboot, despite plenty of online rumors.

Audiences fell in love with Monica, Ross, Rachel, Chandler, Joey, and Phoebe, so it’s no surprise that critics loved them too. Friends was nominated for 62 Emmy Awards over the course of its 10 seasons, and scooped up several wins, including Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Lisa Kudrow, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Jennifer Anniston, and Outstanding Comedy Series.

All 10 seasons of Friends rated within the top 10 of the final television season ratings, and it finally reached the number one spot in its eighth season in 2002. The series finale aired on May 6, 2004 and was watched by a whopping 52.5 million viewers in America alone, making it the fifth most-watched series finale in television history, and the most-watched television episode of the 2000s.

Maybe Friends will take a page out of Will & Grace’s playbook and come back for a few more seasons!
