Gilmore Girls
We’ve already kind of revisited Gilmore Girls with the Netflix series, but there is something so special about the original run of the show. Every time fans headed to Stars Hollow where Rory and Lorelai Gilmore would spend their time together, fans felt as if they were part of this family.
A staple to many of our teenage years, Rory was someone we could see ourselves in. Trying to navigate school work and boyfriends isn’t easy, and Rory doesn’t try to make it seem like it is. The show brings a realness to the struggles we all face growing up, which is one of the reasons we still love it so much.
There is also something so special about the mother/daughter dynamic of the show. Having your mother as your best friend is both a blessing and a curse, and Gilmore Girls is aware of both sides of that. Sure, Rory tells Lorelai everything … but she’s still her daughter.
Some of us struggle with that balance, and it helped that Gilmore Girls is so real about how we as daughters interact with our mothers. The Netflix series is pretty incredible as well. We miss going to Luke’s Diner with our friends week after week.
