Smash

A bit like GleeSmash was a show theater kids and music lovers could really relate to and obsess over. It came and went pretty quickly, with just two seasons airing between 2012 to 2013. Those who loved the show did so intensely, especially because of the rivalry between Ivy and Karen.

The first season is centered around Bombshell, a musical documenting the life of Marilyn Monroe. Both Karen and Ivy are up for the lead role. Season 2, meanwhile, finds Karen in a musical called Hit List while Ivy brings Marilyn to life. As a result, the two are battling to see who’s going to win Best Actress at the Tony Awards.

Since the show has ended, fans are still making jokes about Karen and Ivy, and many on Twitter are still talking about the show. Season 3 would be a lovely gift to the world. Even if we never get to revisit Karen, Ivy, Derek, and the rest of the musical-loving crew from Smash, we’re still going to be talking about who should have been Marilyn. That is, we will until Bombshell ends up on Broadway.

(No, really. Why hasn’t Bombshell been on Broadway yet?)
