Fans have a brilliant idea for Phil Coulson’s introduction in Captain Marvel

Fans on Reddit had some adorable ideas about how Coulson could be introduced in Captain Marvel, and we think the directors should take notice.

Captain Marvel is going to be set in the 1990s, and many of our well-known favs are set to show up in the film as their younger selves. Nick Fury and Agent Coulson are both going to be in the film, and even though Coulson has been in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D over the years, Captain Marvel will be his first time in the MCU since he died, sort of, in The Avengers.

Agent Coulson was definitely a fan favorite, and many people are excited about his return and to see what the movie has in store for his character. Reddit user RescueInc (found by CBR.com) has some ideas about how Coulson should be introduced in Captain Marvel.

This user suggests that as the camera introduces Coulson, he could be negotiating for a final item that he needs to finish his collection of Captain America baseball cards. Fans will remember how excited Coulson was to meet Steve Rogers in real life. And who didn’t relate to his fanboy excitement there?

"I want the introduction scene of (young) Agent Coulson in Capt. Marvel to be him negotiating a tense acquisition of a critical object…only for it to be revealed it’s the last Captain America baseball card he needs to complete the set. from marvelstudios"

This introduction would be a great way to connect Coulson to his appearance in The Avengers and would also be all around adorable. Another Reddit user, JUBiLee, suggested another great addition to this headcanon: making it a Stan Lee cameo.

Comment from discussion JCiLee’s comment from discussion "I want the introduction scene of (young) Agent Coulson in Capt. Marvel to be him negotiating a tense acquisition of a critical object…only for it to be revealed it’s the last Captain America baseball card he needs to complete the set.".

This is a pretty brilliant idea and accomplishes connecting Coulson back in to the world in a way audiences would likely respond well to. Also, adding in Lee’s cameo in this way would be extra cute. Sadly, this is just something that fans would like to see, and unless directors Anne Boden and Ryan Fleck are taking suggestions from Reddit, this scene will likely have to remain in our minds and hearts instead of the screen.

We are all excited to see what parts Coulson will play in Captain Marvel, and how this standalone movie will connect to the MCU as a whole.
