Joe’s Pizza (Spider-Man 2)

Spider-Man 2 came onto the scene over a decade ago, and we won’t soon forget Tobey McGuire as the webbed hero. So when he has to work at a pizza place to help save money for school and living in the city, it has since become famous! A real place located on Carmine Street, the restaurant itself has changed its name to reflect its superhero past.

What’s fun about the original Spider-Man movies was the authenticity of it. They were very much filmed in New York City, and you could tell by the way the movie looked. Joe’s Pizza was no exception because, well, it actually exists.

It easily could have been just any old pizza shop, but Joe’s is known for many things, including celebrities who go there for all their pizza needs. Will you see a Peter Parker there when you’re eating your slice? Who knows. He might be out for a delivery at that point, but it is fun to see how positively being in a superhero movie has been for the shop.

The fact that they are still there and busy is also so great!

What you can do:

  • Grab a slice of pizza and take pictures of all the celebrities who have gone there that are hanging on the wall.
  • Catch a flick at the IFC Center on the same block.
  • Walk a few blocks over to visit the historic Stone Wall Inn in Greenwich Village.

Location:  7 Carmine Street, New York City, NY

How to get there: The pizzeria is just a few steps away from West 4 St-Washington Sq Station. You can take the A/C/E or B/D/F/M trains, walk south a block, and you’re basically there!

Cost: A plain slice typically costs $2.75, and $3.50 with a topping.
