Bleecker Street (Doctor Strange)

Unfortunately, you can’t go knock on Stephen Strange’s door, but you can go to Bleecker Street and imagine that you’re at 177A from Doctor Strange. The movie brought to life the story of a once-renowned surgeon who discovers the amazing world of sorcery when he travels to Kamar-Taj.

But before he sets out to find the Ancient One in Karmar-Taj, he practices his work as a surgeon in New York City. If he isn’t the hospital where he works at, then it is 177A Bleecker Street, where he quickly becomes the guardian of the Sanctum Sanctorum there.

While the movie takes the 177A address taken directly from the comics, it’s still too bad that it’s not a real address. Fans would definitely show up wanting to see it. So the mythical address is mostly a necessity but still, how fun would a real-life 177A Bleecker Street be?

Stephen Strange clearly lives on Bleecker, but some of the shots in his movie make it seem as if he’s uptown. So because of movie magic, maybe Strange’s New York is different from everyone else’s. But if you do go down to the actual Bleecker Street, then you’ll at least get the sense of what it would feel like to be Stephen Strange.

What you can do:

  • Get a drink at the Bowery Hotel bar. A few blocks over is the famous Bowery Hotel, one of the coolest spots in the city. While there, you can feel just as rich as Strange himself.
  • Explore SoHo, one of the coolest part about New York City. Where else can you roll up into an H&M and run the risk of seeing a famous person?

Location:  Bleecker St, New York City, NY

How to get there:  To get there, you can get off at the Broadway-Layfette station, and walk up to Bleecker Street. You can also get off on the Prince Street station to be dropped right in the middle of SoHo. If you’d like to take the streets, why not take a Citi Bike there? Rentals are $3 for a 30-minute ride, and you can see more of the city that way!

Cost: Free!
