Coney Island (Captain America: The First Avenger)

We might only see Coney Island once in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it’s also mentioned by Bucky when he’s trying to make light of a situation he, the Howling Commandos, and Steve find themselves in.

The time we actually do see Coney Island is when Peter Parker crashlands a plane while he’s fighting the Vulture at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming. You see the two land right on the beach, with the iconic Wonder Wheel just behind them. Another instance of Coney Island is in The Amazing Spider-Man, where Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker lives in the area. So much for truly wanting him to be a Queens kid.

Would it be fun to see Cap and Bucky actually in Coney Island on the Cyclone? Sure, maybe we can have a flashback of the two. Or maybe Peter Parker can bring MJ there in one of the movies. But a visit to the actual Coney Island rather than seeing it in the movies is always a better experience.

What you can do:

  • Ride the Ferris wheel! You won’t regret it, and the views are amazing at the top. If you’re a little more daring, ride the Cyclone roller coaster in Luna Park.
  • Take a stroll down the boardwalk, hit up the beach, or bring some gear to go fishing.
  • Make a wish with The Zoltar on the pier — famous because of the movie Big.

Location: Coney Island, Brooklyn, NY

How to get there: The Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue station will get you right there. Just ride the D/F or the N/Q trains.

Cost: Free!
