Parks and Recreation
There is a specific moment in Parks and Recreation that absolutely destroys you while watching it. The finale flashes forward in time to show our Pawnee characters and where they end up. It’s fun and light-hearted and the show we’ve loved for years throughout most of it.
But if you’re like me, when Ben Wyatt willingly gives up his option to run for governor of Indiana for Leslie, you couldn’t stop from breaking down. Parks and Recreation is a show filled with characters that are willing to do whatever is necessary to make those they love happy.
The finale proved that idea, continually showing the future of these characters and how, even in Jerry/Gary/Larry/Terry’s death, they’re all still connected. Leslie Knope refused to let her friends not see each other, even when she moved to Washington D.C., and that is the true heart of the show.
The characters are so in love with one another that they’re willing to always be there when someone needs them. Parks and Recreation was always about friendship and the importance of the people in your life. And the finale just reinforced that idea tenfold. It also helped that Leslie Knope got to be president of the United States at the end of the day.
