There are special plans in the works to get Meghan Markle’s wedding dress on display at Windsor Castle where she married Prince Harry.

Royal wedding fans are going to have even more reasons to head to Windsor Castle. Besides getting to visit the historic location where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wed on May 19, visitors will soon get to see the wedding dress worn by the Duchess of Sussex.

The Daily Express reports that police officials are discussing when the gorgeous Givenchy gown will go on display, with a potential plan to do so by the end of the year. There’s also the need to iron out details of the exhibit surrounding the dress, including how long it will stay on display and what else may be included.

Having Meghan Markle’s wedding dress on display at Windsor Castle makes sense considering Kate Middleton’s wedding dress was also turned into a centerpiece for Buckingham Palace the summer after her 2011 wedding to Prince William.

Middleton’s wedding dress went on display in time for the “annual opening of Buckingham Palace” in August of 2011. The dress was on display for approximately 10 weeks and estimates had nearly 500,000 people taking the opportunity to see the gown when it was available for public viewing. In fact, the first people to see Kate Middleton’s dress on display was the Duchess of Cambridge herself, along with Queen Elizabeth.

While we don’t know the exact plans for Meghan Markle’s wedding dress exhibit yet, there’s the expectation protocol will be similar to Kate Middleton’s dress being on display. Whether the Duchess and Queen Elizabeth will check out the exhibit together is up in the air, but it is likely that Windsor Castle will get a wonderful turn out when the dress is available to be gazed upon.

According to the Daily Express, any official announcements regarding the exhibit will most likely come later this year after everything is finalized.

Considering there will be another royal wedding set to take place in October at Windsor Castle, Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s, it makes sense that no concrete plans have been announced yet.

By the time Princess Eugenie weds her fiance, it will have been a very busy year for Windsor. From Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s May wedding, to a large influx of tourists over the summer, it seems that Windsor Castle is the place to be this year.

Even if the only thing that goes on display is the Duchess of Sussex’s wedding dress, it will be a beautiful piece of art on its own. The Givenchy dress, designed by head designer Clare Waight Keller, was overwhelmingly beloved by royal wedding fans and clearly perfect for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s big day.

We can’t wait to learn more about the Meghan Markle wedding dress exhibit at Windsor Castle. Perhaps we will even get to see the tiara she wore displayed as well (fingers crossed).
