New Riverdale season 3 photo shows the Southside Serpents on the move

Riverdale may be in turmoil heading into season 3, but that doesn’t mean the Southside Serpents are going to lay low and stay quiet.

The Southside Serpents may have played a more minor role in season 2 of Riverdale, but going into the third season, it is likely that they will play a much bigger part in what is happening. Considering the mess the town seems to be in, plus the new role that Jughead has stepped into, we can only guess at how much of the Serpents we will be seeing.

In a new set photo tweeted by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the Chief Creative Officer of Archie Comics and creator of Riverdale, it looks like the Southside Serpents are definitely back in action. In fact, the image gives a look at the group’s new leader, Jughead (of course), as he and Fangs and Sweet Pea make their way through what looks like a camp.

Considering the Serpents all basically lost their homes by the end of season 2, the fact that there is a makeshift encampment with Jughead and members of his posse wandering through is honestly unsurprising. Of course, we don’t yet know what the three are discussing or even what this scene may mean for the goings-on in Riverdale.

And based on what Aguirre-Sacasa included as a message with the photo, it sounds like not everyone is having a relaxing summer. While he wouldn’t share why the summer is not a relaxing one for the Serpents, it’s not exactly a surprise to hear that they are dealing with a lot.

From homelessness to Jughead’s friend Archie being arrested, and of course the apparent take over of Riverdale by Veronica’s father, Hiram, things are simply not going well in town. But, as CBR.com pointed out, even with the Southside Serpents being in less than great shape, it certainly looks like they are still going to be making waves and causing trouble.

And nothing says trouble like three Serpents walking through a base camp with expressions of intent on their face. We may not know what is going on in the photo yet, but we know it can’t be a good thing.

A lot is happening in Riverdale and with Jughead (who is usually at the center of things in some way) now the leader of the Southside Serpents, it is likely we will see the gang getting involved a lot more this season. However, the Serpents getting involved in the town drama may not be the best thing ever for Riverdale, but we will have to wait and see for sure.

With a single photo, Riverdale fans have a lot to speculate on, as well as look forward to. We may not know where things are going for the town right now, but it already looks like it is going to be an interesting ride.
