Miranda Cosgrove

Like most child stars, iCarly’s Miranda Cosgrove gave a singing career a try. She was moderately successful, but… it wasn’t great.

Miranda’s debut as a recording artist began with the iCarly theme song “Leave It All to Me” back in 2007, and later, in 2008, with the iCarly soundtrack, which featured four songs performed by the actress. Not surprisingly, the soundtrack debuted at #1 on the Billboard Kid Albums charts. But it wasn’t until 2009 that Miranda released her first EP, About You Now.

About You Now wasn’t meant as Miranda’s debut, but rather just as a promotional tool for her single, also titled “About You Now”. Her real debut was her album Sparks Fly, released in 2010. The album was popular among fans of her show iCarly, but it struggled to make any real impact in the music industry. Despite working with big-name producers and songwriters like Max Martin, Avril Lavigne, Darkchild, and Dr. Luke, it still felt very juvenile.

For her sophomore EP High Maintenance, Miranda explored a more dance-pop sound, but it still didn’t really stick. The EP’s sole single, “Dancing Crazy”, was written by Avril Lavigne, and was met with negative reviews. The single peaked at #100 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Unfortunately, Miranda Cosgrove became just another Nickelodeon star to try and fail at music. Ever since it seems like she has been focusing more on her acting than music, but not much has been happening on that front, either.

Not everyone can be a Nickelodeon success story like Ariana Grande, so don’t be too hard on yourself!
