Ed Westwick, Leighton Meester, and Taylor Momsen

Looks like there’s another Gossip Girl star who tried their hand at music! Actually, there are three.

Leighton Meester has been trying for a music career ever since her time as Blair on the hit CW show but failed to make an impact as a pop star. Her song with Cobra Starship, “Good Girls Go Bad”, was a hit back in 2008, but any plans for her own studio album were scrapped. She finally released her debut studio album, Heartstrings, in 2014, but instead of dance-pop, the album had a more indie-folk-pop feel to it.

Taylor Momsen, who played little Jenny Humphrey, had a much more successful leap into music. The actress has been the lead singer of the rock band The Pretty Reckless since 2009. The band has released several moderately successful singles, like “Make Me Wanna Die”, and three studio albums, the most recent being 2016’s Who You Selling For. Most people didn’t expect the pretty blonde actress to make the jump from teen actor to rock star, but she seems to be putting her focus on her music career moving forward.

For Ed Westwick, who played millionaire playboy Chuck Bass, he was exploring his musical roots before landing the role on Gossip Girl. He was the lead singer of the British band The Filthy Youth ever since they first formed in 2006. They were a punk group inspired by the likes of The Rolling Stones and Kings of Leon.

Two of The Filthy Youth’s songs — “Come Flash All You Ladies” and “Orange” — ended up being featured in episodes of Gossip Girl.
