The Walking Dead’s Negan is headed for Tekken 7, and he’s bringing Lucille

Tekken 7 is getting a host of new characters, with the most surprising of them all coming from AMC’s The Walking Dead.

The Walking Dead’s Negan is known for his brutality and that terrifying barbed wire bat he lovingly calls Lucille. While Negan may be held captive by Rick in season 9 of The Walking Dead, it appears we’ll get to play the head of the Saviors in Tekken 7.

The news was revealed during the fighting game tournament Evo in Las Vegas, with many cheering in the audience following Negan’s signature whistle previewing his reveal.

As for reactions on social media, many are bringing up the valid question of “Who asked for this?”

The head of the Saviors is headed for Tekken’s second Season Pass, joining fellow new characters Anna Williams and Lei Wulong. While audio from the trailer is identifiable as Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s voice from the show, right before Glenn and Abraham met their fate, we don’t yet know if Morgan will voice the video game’s character.

The addition of AMC’s villain from the popular zombified show is especially surprising given Tekken series producer Katsuhiro Harada’s thoughts on adding the character last year.

Bandai Namco shared a statement regarding the surprising addition to Tekken 7, saying:

"Negan from AMC’s The Walking Dead is making his way into Tekken 7 to deal a world of pain in the Tekken universe. Negan, beloved by fans of The Walking Dead for his charismatic yet sinister demeanor, is ready to destroy all challengers, regardless of their stature in the Tekken universe."
