Even Paul Rudd seems unsure about future Ant-Man and the Wasp sequels
Ant-Man and the Wasp has received critical acclaim, and done well financially. But even that may not guarantee a sequel, according to Paul Rudd.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is influx right now, as we head into the last movies of Phase 3. With the way Avengers: Infinity War ended, and the end credits scene for Ant-Man and the Wasp reminded us, there are a lot of superheroes and MCU family on the chopping block. This means even with a successful box office run, we may not see a sequel to Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Speaking to RadioTimes.com, Paul Rudd, who stars as the tiny superhero Ant-Man, was asked about what the future holds for his character and whether or not we will be getting any more sequels. In response, the actor explained that he actually does not know because he apparently hasn’t been asking.
According to Rudd, the reason he has not been asking is because he does not “want to put too much thought into it in case… well, what if there isn’t?”
He also said that while he may not know what will be coming next and if Ant-Man and the Wasp will be getting a sequel, he does know that there are some ideas that have been discussed. However, he refused to go into detail because he does not really want to get anyone’s hopes up.
We totally understand why Paul Rudd may not want to ask too many questions about possible sequels. If he doesn’t ask, it means he doesn’t really know and therefore can’t be too disappointed if he doesn’t get another solo outing.
At the same time, there have been reports that point to Ant-Man being rather important to Avengers 4 and the solution to what happened to the universe in Avengers: Infinity War. This means that even if we don’t get an Ant-Man and the Wasp sequel, we will be getting more of Paul Rudd and his tiny superhero.
Plus, with plans for Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe still being kept under wraps, we don’t really know what we can expect in terms of future movies and sequels. We have been told to look out for Black Panther 2, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Doctor Strange 2, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but there are plenty of other characters who could see their stories continue, even as new heroes get their chance in the spotlight.
Ultimately, we seem to be in the same boat as Paul Rudd, unsure of what the future holds for Ant-Man. At the same time, we can certainly hold out hope for more solo adventures with Ant-Man and his new partner, the Wasp.
